2023 Is Too Early, Peter Obi Should Wait Till 2027 To Rule Nigeria” – Former Niger State Governor
According to Reports, Babangida Aliyu, former Governor of Niger state said during his interview on Channels TV that 2023 is too early for Labour party presidential flag bearer, Peter Gregory Obi to rule Nigeria, and he should wait for 2027 or 2031 general elections to become Nigeria’s president.
Undoubtedly, Peter Gregory Obi who is also a former Governor of Anambra state is one of the favourites to win 2023 presidential election due to massive supports being shown to him from Nigerians on social media.
It can be recalled that Peter Obi left Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Labour Party (LP), and he will be competing for the presidential seat against Atiku of PDP, and Bola Ahmed Tinubu of APC. However, Banbagida Aliyu believes that 2023 is too early for Peter Obi to become Nigeria’s president.
Babangida Aliyu said Peter Obi is his good friend, and he could have become Atiku’s running mate if had stayed with the peoples democratic party, PDP. Aliyu said he doubted if Nigerians are ready for him now as a presidential candidate, though he believes the young people might go for him.
In his words, “in terms of the Presidency, I think he will make some name now. But he may be able to make it only in 2027, 2031. But 2023? Too early.”
Babangida Aliyu said he would have loved Peter Obi as a Vice-President.
