It has been from a reliable source that as horse-trading to trim down the number of presidential aspirants continues, leaders from the Southwest including traditional rulers are said to be mounting pressure on Osinbajo to step down for Bola Tinubu. It had been revealed that there are moves to get Governor Kayode to step down as well.
It was gathered that among five aspirants recommended by the Northern governors of the APC and the National Working Committee, (Osinbajo, Tinubu, and Fayemi) are from the Southwest. Rotimi Amaechi is from the South-South while Governor David Umahi is from the Southeast. It will interest you to note that Fayemi is said to be banking on the support of his brother governors.
It was gathered that number of governors who are eyeing the slot of the vice president are supporting Tinubu, while few are supporting Osinbajo. The source also disclosed that leaders of the Southwest want one candidate from the zone that’s why they are pressurizing Fayemi and Osinbajo to Step down for Tinubu.
