Police have arrested two people for murder in Osizweni, Newcastle.

“People’s lives have been lost due to the ongoing feud between groups of youngsters. The team managed to make a breakthrough when they arrested two suspects for murder.

“The suspects, aged 18 and 24, were arrested yesterday (Tuesday) following a lengthy investigation by the team,” said police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

The men were arrested in connection with the murder of Siyabonga Vilakazi, 26, who was shot dead in Osizweni B section in September.

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Khombinkosi Jula said he hoped the arrests would bring peace to the community.

“We hope these arrests will bring peace and stability in the Osizweni area. More arrests are expected as the team penetrates the Osizweni area,” he added.
