But Jesy Nelson made sure she was the trendsetter in her fashionable ensemble on Thursday as she recorded new solo music following her departure from Little Mix last year.

The singer, 29, who announced she was leaving the girl-group in December to focus on things that make her ‘happy,’ has been dropping regular clues on social media, suggesting she is working on new material.

And for her music session, Jesy wowed in straight-leg Evisu jeans, splattered with the Japanese brand’s logo.

She teamed her eye-catching trousers with a ribbed white crop top, revealing her washboard abs.

The former Little Mix star styled her caramel tresses in glamorous loose curls underneath a Dior headscarf.

Jesy rounded off the look with statement Nike trainers, made in collaboration with Travis Scott and his record label, Cactus Jack Records.

She decorated her neck with gold jewellery and sported a typical full coverage make-up look.

Jesy worked her best angles from a door step at her home in Essex before uploading a collection of candid snaps from her new mystery work project.

In an office space at an unknown location, she wrapped her arms around a colleague as she scrunched her nose and delivered a pout.

Her work friends crowded around her as they playfully posed for another picture, before all heading outside.

Jesy was also seen playing with an adorable pooch who rolled on his belly, eager for affection.

She captioned the series of uploads: ‘Today was an exciting day,’ with a monkey concealing its mouth as the accompanying emoji.

In an additional clip uploaded to her Instagram Story, Jesy rocked earphones, in what appeared to be a music studio, as she teased her fans: ‘I can’t [wait] till I can unmute this.’ (sic)

Meanwhile the remaining Little Mix members – Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock – have been continuing to work on new music.

Speaking to Euphoria magazine recently, the trio revealed that they’ve enjoyed adapting to their new normal without Jesy, explaining that they often work through their issues in group therapy.

Asked how they continued following their former bandmate’s shock departure, Jade, 28, shared: ‘It’s still all systems go in Little Mix world. It’s just learning to adapt. I think it’s quite exciting.’

Discussing the success of their hit Sweet Melody in January, she continued: ‘We got off to a good start as a three by having our No. 1 single in the UK.

‘That was like, “Oh wow, this is a good sign, good omen, that this year is going to be good for us.”‘

Despite the shift in the group dynamic from a quartet to a trio, the group are stronger than ever, with Perrie, 27, explaining that they know they can rely on one another.

‘We love going to therapy together,’ she admitted. ‘We also have each other, which is huge.

‘We’re each other’s support system in a way because we’re sisters and feel every emotion together. We can always lean on each other.’

The group have also been protecting their mental health by cutting out toxicity, starting with social media.

Jade revealed: ‘If I had any advice for people, it would be to only follow accounts that make you feel good about yourself. Or ones that don’t make you feel like you’re not enough or compare yourself to what that person’s doing.’

Leigh-Anne, 29, added that this year has really been about dumping anything toxic from her life and ‘being around people that make you feel good and that bring something positive into your life.’

The trio are now looking forward to the release of their first single without Jesy, 29, a remix of their hit single Confetti, which  will feature American rapper Saweetie.

The group sent fans wild with the announcement earlier this month, as they tweeted: ‘The news you’ve all been waiting for… our brand new single Confetti featuring @saweetie is out 30/04.’
